What it is

Causal (https://causal.so/) is an infinite AI canvas for creatives who plan before they open Figma, CapCut, or a doc tool. We verified the marketing site HTTP 200 on 2026-09-24. The product pitch: drop notes, images, links, and files onto one spatial board; an on-canvas agent can read the whole layout (not just a single selected card), rearrange or generate items, and hand the board off over MCP so an external agent can turn the plan into something real while keeping relative positions as context. You can also ask the agent to spawn custom widgets on the canvas (habit trackers, simple charts, lightweight interactive bits). It is a Mac desktop app first; the public site markets a lasting Free tier (not a timed trial) and a Pro plan. Who it is for

Motion designers, product designers, content creators, and founders who think in moodboards and spatial clusters rather than nested Notion pages. Useful when references, call recordings, Figma links, and half-written briefs usually live in five apps and you want one board that an agent can read as a whole before you execute. If you only need a markdown wiki or a spreadsheet OKR tracker, Causal is the wrong shape. If you need collaborative multiplayer whiteboarding at Miro scale, treat this as an early personal/creative workspace, not an enterprise whiteboard replacement — we have not stress-tested multi-user concurrency.

Fresh public launch: Product Hunt featured Causal on 2026-09-03 (~3 weeks before this listing; ~#12 / ~103 upvotes on hunted.space coverage), live site verified 2026-09-24. Our Design column sits at 4 while the board stays Dev-tools heavy — Causal adds a spatial planning canvas with MCP handoff, not another Dev CLI or agent OS. Caveats

We have not run a full Free→Pro creative project through MCP handoff on our own Mac, measured long-running agent quality on large boards, or verified how well spatial coordinates survive third-party MCP consumers.
