What it is

CrbonFree (https://crbonfree.com/) is an AI usage carbon meter: it attaches energy, water, and CO₂e figures to the tokens you already burn across providers, so the number can sit in a report someone outside your company can check. We verified the marketing site HTTP 200 on 2026-09-25 (also /methodology and the dashboard signup). Instead of guessing Scope 3 AI from cloud spend, you connect the providers you pay (OpenAI, Anthropic, OpenRouter, Bedrock, Vertex, Vercel AI Gateway, Cloudflare AI Gateway, Azure Foundry, and more planned) with a read-only key, SDK, MCP server, CLI, or browser extension. Each call is counted with published per-tier factors (methodology v1.2), then converted through three nested layers — active silicon, facility operation, and full lifecycle (embodied + training) following Watershed’s open framework — with an IPCC Tier 1 uncertainty band (~±28%) on every figure. Prompt and completion text never leave your stack; CrbonFree says it receives usage metadata only. Surfaces share one contract: dashboard (CSV/JSON export), TypeScript and Python SDKs, remote MCP tools, a CLI that meters local coding agents hourly, a Chrome/Edge extension for ChatGPT/Gemini/Claude sessions, and a REST API with published OpenAPI. Paid plans add signed retirement receipts (American Carbon Registry / BCarbon serials), public verification, monthly audit packs, and badge/certificate assets.
