What it is
SereneDB is an open-source database that keeps search and analytics in one engine. We verified serenedb.com on 2026-09-22 (HTTP 200): the public site and docs describe full-text, vector, and hybrid search alongside SQL analytics, columnar storage, and a PostgreSQL wire protocol so familiar clients can connect. Install options include a curl installer, download packages, and Docker; agents can also read llms.txt and markdown mirrors on the site.
The production release branded Krummelanke went public the same day (2026-09-22), Apache 2.0 on GitHub (serenedb/serenedb). The Berlin team positions the engine for workloads that mix “find it” and “aggregate it” without a separate search cluster plus warehouse sync — product search, logs, knowledge bases, and agent-facing query load. Vendor benchmarks and cost claims exist on their site; treat those as claims to reproduce, not as our measurements.
Who it’s for
Makers and small teams who currently glue Elasticsearch-class search to an analytics store (or stretch Postgres with extensions) and want one Postgres-compatible surface for hybrid questions. If you already run a mature ClickHouse + OpenSearch stack with a dedicated data team, this is optional. If a coding agent or solo engineer needs search + SQL over the same data without standing up two systems, the shape is interesting.

Ship date evidence: Product Hunt daily board 2026-09-22 lists SereneDB; press wire and GitHub release for Krummelanke land the same calendar day. Live URL verified before listing. Fills an Infra / data gap on this board — we already cover Design, billing, agents, and marketing tools, but no fresh search-analytics database. Fits the new-only bar: production release day, not a household database brand.
Caveats
We have not load-tested SereneDB ourselves. Benchmark numbers, compression ratios, and object-storage search economics are vendor-published — run their public harness before betting production. Early open-source risk: APIs, scale-out story (federation today; elastic compute/storage separation on their roadmap), and ops maturity will still move.
